This past Tuesday night, a 15 year-old named Bartlomiej “Bart” Palosz shot himself with his family’s shotgun. It was after the first day of school.
It may have seemed sudden to many, but he actually began posting depressing messages via social media back in June. What you will see is heartbreaking:
15-year-old Bartlomiej “Bart” Palosz shot himself with a shotgun after his first day of school.
He was a depressed and troubled teenager; he regularly updated his Google+ page with disturbing thoughts.
A few days before his suicide, he even asked his friends to play a certain song at his funeral.
Although it seemed sudden, Bart was posting disturbing statuses for a while.
His school, Greenwhich High School, has brought in mental health counselors to help students cope with the loss.
The family, friends, students and staff that knew Bart were deeply affected by his suicide.
Officials are now looking into following students’ social media profiles in order to detect disturbing behavior like Bart’s.
He started posting suicidal messages in June; what if someone were able to talk to him before he did something to himself?
Lisa Johnson, a mother whose son was a friend of Bart’s, told The Greenwich Time that Bart was a sweet, but awkward kid.
“He always was kind of awkward in his body and kind of clumsy and how he carried himself… He didn’t exude confidence but he was a total sweetheart of a guy. But kids never appreciated that… He was really polite and one of those people who always said `What can I do to help you?’”
Don’t let a child with problems slip through the cracks. Maybe if someone would have noticed Bart’s plight, he could have been helped.
