Either because they love puns or education, three “seniors” decided to graduate from high school this year… and all of them are over the age of 75.

Maureen Baker, the youngest of the group at 76, waited 56 years to get her high school diploma. She quit school in 1956 to work as a phone operator to support her family. She considers herself quite a late bloomer, but is glad she finally took the plunge. Her family is glad that her shady rebellious stage is over and she buckled down and focused on her grades.

She was inspired by her grand-daughter, who also was attending an alternative school to receive her diploma a little late (although not 56 years later). At least Maureen won’t need a chaperone when she goes out to celebrate!
