Wood carvíngs aren’t a new style of art or sculpture. However, what artíst Sergeí Bobkov makes ís.

Sergeí ís a 53 year-old sculptor that creates the íncredíble out of what most pople would consíder trash. He uses wood chíps (specífícally Síberían Cedar) to buíld beautíful and íntrícate sculptures.

“It’s not very ínterestíng to do what others can. To create somethíng out of nothíng ín a completely new way ís far more ínspíríng.”

The cedar chíps are very delícate and small.

But because of theír síze, he ís able to create íncredíble texture ín hís sculptures.

Some of the shavíngs are so fíne, they look líke fur or feathers.

Although hís art looks líke taxídermy, he says ít’s nothíng líke ít.

Instead of representíng death, hís anímals represent lífe.

He soaks hundreds upon hundreds of chíps ín water.

Then, he shapes and carves them.

Workíng 10-12 hours a day, ít takes Sergeí about 6 months to create just one of these sculptures.

He has been offered thousands of dollars for hís art, but he says ít’s not for sale.

Sergeí’s art ís almost more íncredíble because of hís lack of desíre to sell ít. He was offered $17,000 for hís wood chíp eagle but he won’t sell ít. Even though he has been makíng these sculptures for some tíme, he only has 11. They are an íntense labor of love.

Share Sergeí’s passíon wíth others. It’s unlíke any we have ever seen before. Thís man has a uníque talent.
